CalREDD Statewide MLS System Coming to Chico, Paradise and Oroville!

Buckle your seatbelts, and hold on!
CalREDD, the new statewide Multiple Listing Service (MLS), has begun it’s transition into the Chico, Paradise and Oroville real estate market as of 1/20/2010.
What does this mean for you as a consumer?
1. Buyers and sellers can expect a bumpy road for the next week or so.
You may experience difficulty when attempting to find current listing information when using the search feature on most websites. It’s no small feat to transfer one huge system with thousands of listings to a brand new, more robust platform. The transition is expected to be complete by January 25, 2010. I imagine that it may take a few days after that to finish working out the bugs.
You may experience a disruption in your auto email notification program for new listings. If you are accustomed to receiving daily (or minute by minute!) updates from The Sandi Bauman Team! at Chico Homes, please know that they may be discontinued during the transition period. As soon as it is possible to enact an account for you on the new CalREDD system, we will be working day and night to resume your notification of new listings. The notifications will look different, but will contain the same information you are accustomed to, and much more! Expect to see more photos and better property descriptions in many cases. (Not yet signed up for this great service? Tell us what you’re looking for here, and we’ll get you all plugged in).
2. Scenic roads ahead.
The California Association of Realtors is encouraging more than 60 assocations across the state to convert to CalREDD. Lake County, Merced and Madera have committed to the switch along with the Chico, Paradise and Oroville Assocations. With every association addition, users of the system will have access to a larger geographic area, and therefore more listings! Consider, for a moment, what that could do for you as a seller- your property would have much greater exposure to out- of -town buyers looking to relocate to the greater Chico area. Likewise, if you were considering a purchase in another county, you would be able to utilize your favorite Realtor’s local website to browse for listings. There would be no need to go searching new and unfamiliar websites for information– everything you need is already at your fingertips!

Hello. My name is Susan Lanier. I was born in San Francisco and raised in beautiful Marin County. I moved to Lake Tahoe in 1977 where I met my husband Andy. We’ve been married 27 years and have two grown children. In 1984 we moved to Chico to go back to school and never left! We’ve lived in Paradise and currently make our home in Chico across from Bidwell Park.
In 2000 I received my real estate license and began my career at Coldwell Banker Ponderosa in Paradise. Wanting to learn the Chico market, I joined the Andrea Motta Team at Prudential, and assisted the owner in all aspects of the real estate business. Recently, I joined top producer Sandi Bauman and The Sandi Bauman Team! at Chico Homes. I provide transaction coordination services for the office.
