Tour of Lights! Chico CA Real Estate Homes
December 17th, 2008categories: Chico CA Real Estate News
The Tour of Lights is a wonderful local Chico CA holiday tradition.
Chico residents love to pile in their cars after dark to take a leisurely tour of all the brilliantly decorated Chico area homes.
For some, it’s a grand event, worthy of a limousine rental! Our family likes to enjoy Christmas music playing on the radio, and we always bring along mugs of hot chocolate or apple cider. Add in candy canes and Grandma and Grandad, and we have beautiful holiday memories in the making!
My favorite part is watching the faces of the children as they spot one unexpected treat after another: Santa in a sailboat, angels on rooftops, moving elves, and magical light displays. Of course, half the fun is viewing all of the Chico home properties gloriously lit up at night!
The Chico Enterprise Record made it very easy to enjoy the Tour of Lights. No sense in aimlessly wandering the streets… they’ve got all the best homes already mapped out!
If you are new to Chico, or visiting for the first time, the Tour of Lights is a MUST HAVE holiday event! Make a point of viewing our beautiful Chico homes, and enjoy the contagious Christmas spirit evident throughout our friendly neighborhoods. You won’t be disappointed!

Awesome presentation of Chico CA area homes Tour of Lights!! What a beautiful time of the year for residents of the Chico area!
Sandi I think it’s great that the community of Chico gets together to show off their holiday cheer. What a great holiday tradition to enjoy with the family. – Ashley
Who Knew? That is quite a display and Chico Real estate looks good even at night! Thanks for the map too, I found Chico north of Sacramento.. Terry McDonald
Sandi – we are seeing lots more decorations this year – are you finding that in Chico too. Everyone seems to be getting into the Christmas spirit. Thanks for sharing. – Cyndee Haydon
I have enjoyed this particular tradition the last few years and am looking forward to going again this year! Thanks for publishing the map – in the past it was more or less hit and miss but this year, we can map out a route to enjoy with our kids and grandkids.
Do they have a “tacky lights” tour of homes in Chico? We do here. Sometimes it’s just as much fun to see the homes that are crazy decorated.
Hey there Sandi,
As we get closer and closer to the new year, it’s nice to see everyone enjoying this festive time of the holidays! Certainly everyone there is enjoying themselves… In the meantime, I’ll be looking forward to the Rose Parade
It is awesome to see that Chico has so much Christmas spirit. Wouldn’t it be nice if real estate agents showed homes at night during the holidays. Then we could drive around and see all the great Christmas displays. Probably a stupid idea, but it would have its advantages. Thanks for the update from Chico. I have actually seen fewer displays in my area this year. Too bad, but thanks for the good news from my favorite Chico real estate expert. – Karl
Hello Janis!
Thanks so much for including my post on your Christmas blog at http://www.portorangejuice.com. What a great compilation!
When my children were young, we used to pile in the car and tour the neighborhoods. I miss those days – it’s a wonderful tradition you have with your family.
Thanks for the mention, Janis. Chico is beautiful this time of year!
Hello Ashley, It certainly is a much-loved tradition at our home, and I know many Chico folks share it with us.
Terry- one of the best things about the Chico tour is that you can get practically anywhere in Chico in about 15 minutes or less!
Cyndee- Christmas spirit does seem to be in abundance this year- glad to hear it’s the case in your neck of the woods as well.
The map, provided by the Chico ER, is particularly useful! The links even give a little more description for each home.
I haven’t yet heard talk of a “tacky” lights tour in Chico… although that certainly doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist!
Ricardo- I’m a little late responding… hope you enjoyed the Rose Parade!
Awesome is the only word that’s coming to my mind after reading your post! I really miss those days when i used to be one amongst the tour organizers.
That is a wonderful tradition to keep going for sure.
